Remove Crypto Locker

This document explains the best way to remove the Crypto Locker Ransom Ware from your computer.

Background

Once installed Crypto Locker Ransom Ware will encrypt some files on your computer. When you try to open these files it will tell you that you have to pay a fee from $120 to $500 to unlock the file. If you pay the fee that Crypto Locker asks for you will still not be able to access your files.

You will need to recover your files from a backup.

Removal

The situation could get worse until you remove Crypto Locker Ransom Ware from your computer.

Once you have run Malwarebytes, select all of the viruses/problems it finds and get it to remove them. Once it has removed them restart your computer and run malwarebytes again.

Protection

Now that you have removed the virus ensure that you have working antivirus software in place. Techmates recommend free anti-virus software from Microsoft called Microsoft Security Essentials.
